Mansfield Town will appoint a successor to former manager Billy Dearden 'within 48 hours'.
Paul Holland has been in caretaker charge of the Stags for the last two games and is keen to be given the job on a permanent basis.
Chief executive Stephen Booth has pledged to take his time, although he has revealed an appointment is close to being made.
He told the club's official website: "I'll not be rushed into making a decision. But I'm hopeful an announcement will be made within the next 48 hours.
"The decision has to be the right one for Mansfield Town. This is a very important time for the club and the next seven weeks will be very intense for us."
