Mansfield Town are in mourning after goalkeeping coach Peter Wilson died from a heart attack during the warm-up for the abandoned clash with Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

Fifty-two-year-old Wilson, who had only recently joined Mansfield from Leicester City, was taken to Shrewsbury General Hospital, but died despite efforts to revive him.

Stags boss Peter Shirtliff told the club's official website: "Kevin Pressman and I have known Peter from our time at Leicester.

"He was a consummate professional who loved the game, a great guy and a true friend. This is a very sad day for the Stags and for football in general."

Town chairman Keith Haslam added: "I am deeply saddened and I would like on behalf of Mansfield Town Football Club to send my heart-felt condolences to Peter's family and friends."
