Stags keep John-Baptiste

Mansfield Town have successfully kept hold of Alex John-Baptiste after agreeing a new contract with the defender.

John-Baptiste, 21, had hinted he was willing to quit Field Mill when his contract expired this summer, but has now preformed a U-turn and put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

"Naturally I want to play at a higher level," he said.

"I've re-signed in the belief that we will be challenging next season."
