Mansfield Town have axed manager Peter Shirtliff after just over a year in charge at Field Mill.
The Stags are currently marooned in the wrong half of the League Two table, just four points outside the relegation places, having lost five of their last six league games.
Shirtliff told the club's official website: "I have enjoyed my time here and I am disappointed, but I realise that it is a results based business and results just haven't been good enough.
"I still believe that two results could have turned things around, but that is the situation we find ourselves in.
"I would like to thank the supporters for all the support they have shown me during my time here and thank the players for their hard work and effort."
