Muggleton eyes new deal

Veteran Mansfield Town goalkeeper Carl Muggleton is keen to sign a new one-year deal with the Stags.

The 38-year-old has played more than 500 League games in a 21-year professional career that has taken in spells with 14 clubs including Celtic, Stoke City and Leicester City.

"I've enjoyed it here and I'd like to stay, but that's up to the management," said Muggleton, who made 19 first-team appearances for the club in the first half of the season following last summer's transfer from Chesterfield.

"I still want to be out there playing. But, when I first came here under Peter Shirtliff, the idea was to develop Jason White as a keeper and we're doing that.

"I still want to contribute and will be ready if called upon, but it's good to see Jason doing well."
