Krystian Pearce set for Stags return

Krystian Pearce is in contention to return to Mansfield's defence for the EFL Cup visit of Blackburn.

Pearce (knee) missed Saturday's season-opening victory at Newport when Kevan Hurst scored a stunning stoppage-time winner.

Darius Henderson could be part of manager Adam Murray's squad after the veteran striker signed on a free transfer last week. Having missed out on pre-season, Henderson is unlikely to be in the starting line-up.

Jack Thomas is set to be unavailable with the 20-year-old midfielder experiencing growth problems.

Blackburn boss Owen Coyle is likely to be without defender Elliott Ward for the trip to the One Call Stadium.

The 31-year-old went off injured during the first half of Saturday's 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Norwich.

Former Brighton defender Gordon Greer replaced Ward on Saturday and is likely to deputise again, while Coyle may decide to ring further changes given their lacklustre showing at the weekend.

Craig Conway was only fit enough for a place on the bench at Ewood Park and hopes to overcome a thigh problem to feature, while Anthony Stokes could start after netting a debut goal after coming off the bench against Norwich.
