Keeper earns strugglers a replay

Slough Town had goalkeeper James Warrington to thank after they survived a late onslaught from Mansfield to earn a 0-0 draw and a surprise replay in the FA Cup first round at the One Call Stadium.

Slough, the joint lowest side left in the competition, rode their luck at times as Louis Briscoe spurned a couple of great opportunities for the home side while Lindon Meikle also hit the crossbar.

The Southern League Division One Central side came into the clash unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions and upset the Stags' rhythm in the opening stages.

When the first chance did come it fell to Mansfield's Richie Sutton in the 11th minute but his effort from a tight angle was comfortably saved by Warrington.

The non-league outfit fired their first warning shot not long after as skipper David Woozley's close-range effort forced a save from Shane Redmond.

But it was the Stags who were dominant, Louis Briscoe and Anthony Howell both forcing saves from Warrington before the interval.

After the break Briscoe fired wide when clean through on 47 minutes while Meikle headed against the bar from Chris Clements' cross ten minutes later.

In the closing stages the Stags ramped up the pressure but Matt Green's effort over the bar was the best they could muster as Slough defended stoutly.
