Woodgate has Euro vision as Spurs head for Manchester United
Published: 23 Apr 2009 - 16:03:27
Jonathan Woodgate is confident Tottenham can finish the season strongly and secure European football. Spurs have put their relegation worries behind them after a run of just one defeat in their last eight Barclays Premier League games and now have their sights set on a place in the Europa League. And Woodgate is confident Tottenham can finish above West Ham, Fulham and Manchester City and ensure a fourth consecutive season of European football at White Hart Lane. On a mission: Woodgate (left) is determined to keep Spurs' impressive run going 'Hopefully we'll get that seventh spot and it will be a really good achievement if we do it,' said Woodgate. 'You have to believe. I'm sure when we beat West Ham at their place in December they didn't expect to be where they are now, but they've done really well. 'We've been playing some great stuff as well and our home record is something to be proud of.' Spurs travel to Old Trafford on Saturday in the hope of protecting their unbeaten Barclays Premier League record against the top four this season. And Woodgate is relishing the prospect of facing title favourites Manchester United. He said: 'United are going for the title but you can see how well we've played against the top four. 'We haven't been beaten by any of the top sides in the league this season and we have beaten Liverpool and Chelsea at home. 'Our record against the top four is impeccable but United will put out a strong side and it will be very tough.'
