Why one striker will watch Uniteds date with destiny from a hospital bed
Published: 26 May 2009 - 11:09:38
Watching your former club take on Barcelona in the Champions League final from a hospital bed would not seem the most relaxed preparation for a quintuple heart bypass the next day. Yet that is what Terry Gibson will be doing. Typical of the self-effacing former Coventry and Wimbledon striker, who played under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford for a season in the mid-Eighties,his condition isn't widely known. Not by many colleagues atSky, for whom he works as aco-commentator on Spanish football, or the man incharge of Manchester United in Rome. Gibson, 46, said: 'I still play football regularly, five-aside,a bit of veterans. 'Then out of the blue I felt I had indigestion for three weeks. Eventually it got on my nerves so I went to a doctor.
