Villarreal have confirmed they are prepared to sell Marcos Senna to Manchester United if the price is right.
The Spain international is near the top of Sir Alex Ferguson's wanted list as he looks to further strengthen his midfield and United officials have already enquired about his availability.
Villarreal director Jose Manuel Llaneza told El Mundo Deportivo: "Manchester rang us at the end of last week and asked us if we were prepared to sit down and negotiate.
"If the offer is positive for everyone, then the club will be happy to agree to Marcos leaving. If there is no deal then there will be no problem with him staying at the club."
Senna, 30, was a key figure in Villarreal's surprise run to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season and was part of Spain's World Cup finals squad.
