Villa set to snub England move
18 Jun 2009 - 07:12:11
Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are set to miss out on the signing of David Villa after the in-demand striker dropped a strong hint that he will be joining Real Madrid.
Villa is wanted by several leading Premier League clubs and also Real Madrid and Barcelona following his goalscoring exploits with Valencia and Spain.
But after scoring Spain's winner in a 1-0 Confederations Cup success over Iraq on Wednesday, the £35million-rated striker revealed he has already decided where his future lies.
Reports in Spain last week claimed that Villa's move to Madrid - where he would link-up with fellow big-name signings Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo - had already been agreed.
It now seems highly unlikely that 27-year-old frontman will be heading to England.
"I have made my decision," he said. "My agent knows my wishes and he is now working on that so I am relaxed.
"There is no deadline on the subject and I really do not have any more details as this whole thing is not totally dependent on me."
