Vidic handed two-match suspension

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has been banned for two matches following his dismissal in Saturday's 4-1 Premier League defeat by Liverpool. The Serbian centre-half, 27, was shown a straight red card by referee Alan Wiley for hauling down Steven Gerrard. As it was his second red card of the season - the other also came against Liverpool at Anfield in September - Vidic is suspended for two games.
