    United wait on injured duo

    01 Oct 2007 - 16:46:13

Manchester United could be without both Nemanja Vidic and Wes Brown for this week's Champions League clash with AS Roma after the duo failed to train on Monday.

Edwin van der Sar has already been ruled out of the game with the foot problem he sustained in Saturday's win at Birmingham City and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson could hand a recall to Owen Hargreaves.

The 26-year-old former Bayern Munich midfielder has not played for over four weeks since featuring in last month's 1-0 win against Sunderland.

"Owen trained on Monday with the team. He's a possibility," said Ferguson. "However, I'd like him to have had some more football ahead of what's an important game.

"European football is a different game of course, in terms of speed and tactics. But we'll see.

"Vidic and Brown are both doubts. We'll have to wait on them. Neither trained on Monday morning, and you don't really want players missing training the day before games. It will be difficult for us if they don't play.

"I think it will be a difficult game for us. Roma are playing very well.

"They had a disappointing result on Saturday, but they lost a man after 28 minutes when Giuly was sent off at 0-0. There was a penalty kick from that and it then became difficult. But they are just the same as last year."
