Manchester United have made a surprise move in the transfer market after signing an unnamed Norwegian prospect.
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the Red Devils have landed a mystery 21-year-old despite his previous assertion that no more new players would be arriving at Old Trafford this summer.
United have snared Michael Owen, Luis Antonio Valencia and Gabriel Obertan so far this close season, but Ferguson brought to a halt to his transfer business last week after hitting out at the inflated nature of the market.
However, that has not stopped the veteran Scot from snapping up a Scandinavian prospect, who will stay at his current club on loan before joining the Premier League champions in January.
Speaking from the club's pre-season tour in Malaysia, he revealed: "We signed a young player yesterday from Norway, who we've been looking at for two years.
"We weren't intending on signing anyone else after last week - we feel we have a full squad - but the situation accelerated to a point where other clubs started to make bids, so we had to decide whether we acted or didn't act.
"We decided to act and he'll be the last person we sign."
