United snare Angola ace

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Angola international striker Mateus Alberto Contreiras Goncalves.

The 24-year-old, better known as Manucho, has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils on a three-year contract and just needs to secure a work permit to complete his move to England.

Manucho made his name with Petro Atletico of Luanda in his homeland and recently impressed during a three-week trial at Old Trafford.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed: "We have had Manucho here for a three-week trial and have been impressed enough to offer him a three-year contract.

"He is a tall, agile, quick forward and through contacts that Carlos Queiroz has, was brought to our attention around six months ago."
