United snap up Serbian pair
02 Jan 2009 - 12:42:40
Manchester United have confirmed the capture of Serbian duo Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic in a double deal that could rise to £16.3million.
Tosic, 21, will join the Old Trafford club with immediate effect from Partizan Belgrade.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Ljajic will remain with Partizan for the rest of 2009 before arriving in England in 12 months time.
"United is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with Partizan Belgrade and the players for Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic to join the club," confirmed a brief statement.
"A press conference will be held next week, once the necessary paperwork has been filed with the relevant authorities."
United had been locked in negotiations with Tosic and his representatives for a number of weeks after initially inviting the Serbia international for a trial.
Reports had suggested the move had stalled due to the player's excessive wage demands.
The versatile winger has won 12 full caps after making the breakthrough from the Serbia Under-21 side during the past 18 months.
