United's Rio Ferdinand may miss England World Cup match against Croatia
United's manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, revealed that Ferdinand had a "small, small tear'' which would keep him out for "hopefully only three weeks, maybe four''. That would rule him out of games with Arsenal and Manchester City and probably the international friendly with Slovenia and the qualifier with Croatia, which could ensure England's place at the finals in South Africa. "He's got to start some time,'' said Ferguson. "He has been training for 10 days with us. What do we do? Keep training him until he's dead! You would always want Vidic in your team. '' Ferguson dismissed talk of the Serb being unsettled. "He has come out and denied he said these things. As far as I'm concerned he is here and he will be staying here.'' Vidic's return is well timed, as Jonny Evans has an ankle injury which will need surgery "at some point".
