United rule out Foster loan
11 Dec 2009 - 13:34:37
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will not be allowing Ben Foster to leave the club on loan next month.
The goalkeeper has slipped out of the first-team picture recently after making a string of high-profile errors earlier in the campaign and, although Edwin van der Sar is currently sidelined by a knee injury, Tomasz Kuszczak is being preferred in goal.
It had been thought that Foster would be given the opportunity to spend the second half of the season away from Old Trafford, but Ferguson countered by saying: "Nothing's going to happen with Ben.
"He is here and this is where he stays."
Meanwhile, Ferguson still does not know whether van der Sar wants to carry on playing beyond this season.
He said of the 39-year-old Dutchman: "Edwin usually comes to us around this time and tells us what he wants to do.
"It generally comes in the form of a telephone call from his agent to (chief executive) David Gill, but we haven't received it yet.
"At the moment Edwin has an injury but it isn't serious and he could be ready for next week."
