United duo set to miss out

    11 May 2007 - 16:20:27

Manchester United striker Louis Saha appears certain to miss next weekend's FA Cup Final against Chelsea after suffering a new injury problem.

The 28-year-old Frenchman has failed to start a Premiership game for three months because of a series of niggling injuries and has now picked up a knee problem.

Saha came on as a substitute in the Champions League semi-final second leg defeat to AC Milan but has suffered a relapse in training.

"He picked up an injury in his knee during training last week," United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told the club's official website.

"He was pencilled in to face Manchester City last week, but got an injury."

Asked if he would be available for the Cup Final, Ferguson added: "I would say not, no."

Gary Neville is also struggling to be fit for the Wembley clash. The 32-year-old England international has not played for two months and is struggling to return to full fitness.

Ferguson said: "Gary has been doing some light running this week, and did a bit more aggressive work on Friday morning.

"Obviously he's up against it for the Final but we're going to give him a chance because he deserves to be fit.

"He'll have to do some serious work with the football next week as we've not introduced that part yet. Whether it will be soon enough, I have my doubts - unfortunately."
