Manchester United have moved quickly to allay fears that Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Sunday's opening Premier League game of the season against Reading.
The Portugal international has been left out of United's squad for Wednesday's pre-season friendly against Glentoran with an ankle injury.
However, a club spokesman told United's official website: "Cristiano has been left out of the game with a slight ankle knock. He was left in Manchester as a precaution.
"He will train on Friday and is expected to be fit for Sunday's game against Reading."
Meanwhile, Paul Scholes was a surprise inclusion in United's side for the friendly against Dunfermline, after making a quicker than anticipated recovery from his knee injury.
The former England international was forced to return home early from the club's tour of Asia last month to undergo a knee arthroscopy.
United have split their squad in half to play the two friendlies simultaneously.
