United consider Ribery move

Manchester United have made a preliminary enquiry concerning the availability of Franck Ribery, according to Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness.

The France forward has seen his star rise on the back of an impressive season in the Bundesliga and has already been linked with big-money summer moves to both Barcelona and AC Milan.

But Hoeness claims United could also be in the frame to sign the former Marseille star, should Cristiano Ronaldo finally move on to long-time admirers Real Madrid this summer.

However, Hoeness has waned any potential suitors that it will take a massive transfer fee to persuade Bayern to sell their prize asset.

"I would really not even answer the phone if the amount would just be £34million," Hoeness told Sport Bild.

"There was a casual request from Man Utd. But then it depends on Cristiano Ronaldo."
