Highly-rated Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is wanted by Manchester United, according to a claim from his agent.

The 23-year-old Germany international is regarded as one of the most consistent shot-stoppers in the Bundesliga and Thomas Kroth claims the Premier League giants are circling his client.

"I have read the reports about Manuel and a possible transfer to Manchester," he said.

" I can confirm that United are interested in securing his services."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson recently suggested that one of Edwin van der Sar's understudies - either Ben Foster or Tomasz Kuszczak - would replace the veteran Dutchman when he finally decides to retire.
