Tevez verdict boosts United

Manchester United have confirmed that striker Carlos Tevez suffered only a badly bruised ankle in the 1-0 victory over Birmingham City at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old Argentina forward netted the only goal of the game against the Blues, but was forced to leave the pitch just under 20 minutes from time and had to be carried away from the dugout at the final whistle.
However, subsequent scans have shown that he did not suffer any major damage, with a club spokesperson confirming: "Nothing is broken, Carlos Tevez has just got a badly bruised right ankle."
Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson had said after the game: "Carlos got a bad tackle on his ankle in the first half and the longer he played the worse it got.
"We had to bring him off and we will assess him to see what damage there is. Obviously, he is doubtful for Saturday now."
Tevez is still highly unlikely to feature in the FA Cup third round clash with Aston Villa, but should be back in action soon after.
