Tevez close to United deal
16 Dec 2008 - 16:18:08
Carlos Tevez believes he is close to signing a permanent contract with Manchester United.
The Argentina striker is midway through a two-year loan contract at Old Trafford, but believes he will soon be putting pen to paper on a full-time deal with the Red Devils.
Tevez has been linked with a move away from England following United's £30million capture of Dimitar Berbatov in August, but the 24-year-old claims he is happy to pledge his future to the club.
"We have been talking about it and everything is very advanced, as a consequence I think it will be sorted soon," he said.
"I feel respected by my team-mates and by the technical staff."
Meanwhile, Tevez claims he is happy to fight for his starting place alongside the likes of Berbatov and Wayne Rooney.
He added: "I think it's part of my life. Everywhere I have been I had to fight and it ended up with titles.
"I think that God tests me, not each year, but each month and at the end of the day, winning league titles makes me feel great.
"The only club I didn't win any title with was West Ham, but people told me, regarding the way we escaped, that it was like winning one.
"I can't explain how happy I am when I win a title after a massive fight. I prefer it this way. That's the story of my life. I have overcome obstacles since I was a kid.
"And right now I'm not going to change. I'm at the best club in the world and fighting for your position is normal."
