Tambe opts for PSG stay

Highly-rated French starlet Alassane Tambe has snubbed the advances of some of Europe's top clubs in favour of penning a new deal at Paris St Germain. The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the continent's hottest properties and his current employers were reluctant to part with the talented youngster. Advances from the likes of Manchester United had thrown Tambe's future into doubt, though, with PSG aware that they would struggle to fend off the vultures circling Parc des Princes. However, the Ligue 1 giants have persuaded the teenage star to extend his stay in the French capital and are delighted to have tied him down on a three-year contract. "It's important for the club to sign Alassane because he's a young guy who is very talented," general manager Phillipe Boindrieux told the club's official website. "He may develop at right-back or as a central defender. "He was born in 1992 and has been at PSG since 2002, thus doing all of his training at the club. "Several major European clubs like Manchester United were interested in him. "So we are very pleased he's signed as a professional. "Our objective is now to move forward so he can become a major player in the first team." Tambe is a regular in the France U17 team and played in last month's European Championship in Germany.
