    Surgery ends Park's season

    27 Apr 2007 - 15:16:56

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Ji-Sung Park's knee injury has proved to be more troublesome than was initially thought, and the South Korea international has been forced to undergo an operation in America.

The 26-year-old has been sidelined for the last four weeks since suffering the injury in the win against Blackburn Rovers and has visited world-renowned knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman.

"We've not been able to get to the bottom of the injury," Ferguson told United's official website.

"We've sent him to the best specialist in the world. Unfortunately, it puts an end to his season.

"Ji was initially examined by our own physios but, with these situations, if you have complications you send the player to a specialist.

"We either had to operate or let nature take its course. Because there was no clear reason for the injury, we knew it was bad enough for us to be concerned, which is why he's gone to America."
