Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross snubs return to United

Priority signing: Ryan Shawcross Ryan Shawcross has snubbed a move back to Manchester United by agreeing a new four-year deal at Stoke. The defender was a January target for Sir Alex Ferguson just two seasons after he left Old Trafford. Ferguson has first option on buying back Shawcross - who was soldto Stoke for £1m in 2008 - if the player ever wants to quit theBritannia Stadium. But the 22-year-old yesterday committed to Stoke until 2013 and is expected to sign early next week.
