Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has allayed fears over his fitness by claiming he will be ready for the start of the new season.
The 34-year-old Norwegian hitman underwent further surgery to cure a persistent knee injury at the end of last season but claims his recovery is progressing well.
Solskjaer has now targeted a comeback in time for the opening game of United's title defence against Reading on August 11.
"I'll be starting from scratch, but I will be fit for the league opener," he said.
"I won't be able to play two matches a week all season, but if I regain top shape I hope to add upon what I achieved last season."
Meanwhile, the veteran marksman has refused to put a timescale on his career which has been blighted in recent seasons but a succession of knee problems.
"The knee will never be 100 per cent again, but as long as it doesn't hurt I'll continue to play," he added.
"I don't know how long I can continue. It might be over after this season or I might be able to play another season."
