    Smith hints at United exit

    13 Jun 2007 - 08:35:09

Manchester United striker Alan Smith is unsure about his future at Old Trafford after revealing that Sir Alex Ferguson has not told the former Leeds star whether he still wants him at the club.

Smith still has two years to run on his new contract but has already been told he will not be handed a new deal when his current one expires.

He told The Sun: "If they're going to sell me, I'd like to know. But I won't find out unless I get to speak to the manager.

"If you're no longer wanted, then you have to consider your options.

"If the manager tells me he wants me, I'm there for him. If he says he doesn't, it's time to move on.

"He didn't say anything to me at the end of the season. We played the FA Cup final, went home the next day and that was it."

The 26-year-old England international has scored 12 goals in 93 appearances for United since moving to Old Trafford from Leeds three years ago for £7million.

He returned to action towards the end of last season after being sidelined for more than a year with a broken leg and ankle.

Everton, Middlesbrough, Spurs, Aston Villa and Rangers are all reported to be interested in signing Smith.
