Scholes set for cup return

Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to pitch Paul Scholes back into action in Manchester United's Carling Cup quarter-final meeting with Blackburn Rovers.
The 34-year-old midfielder has been out of action since picking up a knee ligament injury during United's 3-0 Champions League win over Aalborg on September 30.
Scholes was expected to be sidelined until mid-December, but Ferguson has revealed the veteran midfielder is likely to feature alongside some youthful members of his first-team squad when Rovers visit Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
"Although we are now into the quarter-finals, I intend to stay with the young ones who have got us this far," Ferguson wrote in his pre-match programme notes.
"Players like Jonny Evans, Rafael, Darron Gibson, Rodrigo Possebon and Danny Welbeck (will all play).
"But I also have Paul Scholes in mind. He is on the verge of playing again following his knee injury and operation.
"He is training well and is chomping at the bit to get started.
"So a place on the bench with perhaps a few minutes' pitch time could be good for him. We'll see how things go."
