Scholes forced to fly home

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been forced to leave the club's pre-season tour of Asia and has flown home with a mystery injury.

The former England international was left out of United's side for the friendly against Shenzhen FC on Monday.

It is not known the full nature of the injury, but Scholes underwent a scan on the problem on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson handed a debut to Nani for Monday's game.

The former Sporting Lisbon winger has recovered from an ankle injury and was passed fit to play against the Chinese side.

However, Owen Hargreaves missed out because of injury.
