Scholes eyes United return
04 Jan 2008 - 07:37:02
Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes is close to a return to action after two months on the sidelines with a knee injury.
The 33-year-old could be back in contention when United host Portsmouth on January 30 after being out of action since late October.
Scholes required surgery after damaging his knee ligaments during training on the eve of United's Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev.
The long-serving midfielder had been in impressive form before picking up the injury.
"I've got these next few weeks to get as fit as I can, so hopefully I'll be fresh then I come back," he told the club's official website.
"It's a couple of months since the operation now and everything seems to be okay.
"I'm on track to return at the end of January or the start of February.
"It's been frustrating for me. I still see all the games but it does get a bit boring just watching because all you want is to be out there playing.
"But I know that I have to be patient and hopefully I'll be back playing soon."
