Schalke claim Neuer interest

Schalke head coach Felix Magath has claimed that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is a transfer target for Manchester United.

The 23-year-old Germany international was expected to join Bayern Munich earlier this summer, before the Bavarian giants decided against firming up their interest in the highly-rated Neuer.

Magath told Die Welt: "I have heard Manchester United would be interested in signing Manuel Neuer.

"But for as long as I don't receive a concrete approach, I will not make any statement about this."

Meanwhile, United have been boosted by the news that winger Nani featured for Portugal in their 3-0 victory over Liechtenstein on Wednesday evening.

The 22-year-old suffered a dislocated left shoulder in the Community Shield clash with Chelsea last weekend and he had been thought to be a doubt for the start of the new Premier League season.
