FORMER United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy could be set to make a shock move to Liverpool. The Real Madrid forward has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernebeu following the summer spending spectacular and is behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuain and Raul. But the 33-year-old is desperate for first team football in order to make Holland's squad for the World Cup next summer. Liverpool would seem to be the perfect destination as boss Rafa Benitez is short of options without Fernando Torres, who has struggled with injuries. Russian international Andriy Voronin and young Frenchman David Ngog have struggled to fill his boots. And Benitez is desperately short of cash to fund any new recruits. However, there is a danger of Van Nistelrooy souring his Old Trafford status if he were to sign for their deadly rivals. Tottenham and Arsenal are also possible destinations for the Dutchman, who scored 150 goals in five seasons at Old Trafford.
