Rooney sorry for Blues anger
13 Nov 2009 - 07:57:44
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has apologised for his outburst soon after the final whistle of the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old England ace mouthed the words "twelve men" at TV cameras as he left the pitch, having felt aggrieved at a number of decisions made by match referee Martin Atkinson.
Rooney was subsequently warned about his conduct by the Football Association and now accepts that he was in the wrong.
He said: "I probably should not have said it. I was disappointed at the end of the game and felt we deserved more out of it. Your emotions are high at the end.
"I felt we didn't get the decisions, but that is the way it goes.
"It was probably our best performance of the season, but it was a disappointing result."
