England star Wayne Rooney has signed a contract with Manchester United to keep him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2010. The 21-year-old striker joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2004 from Everton, in a deal that could eventually be worth £27million to the Toffees. Rooney has gone on to score 43 goals in 107 appearances for United. "There is so much I want to achieve with this club, starting hopefully with winning the league this season," Rooney told the club's official website. "It is an exciting time at the moment and I am relishing the challenge that goes with it. "The team is developing with a mixture of experience and youth and I am just glad I can play my part in it." United manager Sir Alex Ferguson added: "It reflects our intention to build a team to stay together. "We see Wayne and Cristiano (Ronaldo) emerging as the best players in the world. They have their best years in front of them and we will all be lucky to witness that."
