Rooney agent accepts lengthy ban

Paul Stretford will begin a nine-month ban from football agent activity on Monday after abandoning legal action against the Football Association. In 2008 he was fined £300,000 and banned for 18 months after being found guilty of seven charges over how he came to represent client Wayne Rooney. "We have received notification from him that he has withdrawn his arbitration claim, " said an FA statement. "He will be suspended from all agency activity for nine months from 4 May."
