Roo out for up to four weeks

    31 Mar 2010 - 14:14:25

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney will miss between two and four weeks with a sprained ankle picked up against Bayern Munich, according to reports.

The 34-goal England striker had to be helped from the pitch following Tuesday's 2-1 Champions League quarter-final first leg defeat in Germany.

Rooney landed awkwardly on his right ankle and left the Allianz Arena on crutches with his ankle shielded by a protective cast.

Speaking after the match, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was hopeful that scans would not reveal a significant injury.

And it looks like Ferguson's wishes have been granted with reports claiming that Rooney will could be back in action by the middle of April.

However, that still means he will miss Saturday's Premier League title showdown with Chelsea at Old Trafford and next week's second leg against Bayern.

The 24-year-old striker could also miss the trip to Blackburn Rovers on April 11 and possibly the Manchester derby with City at Eastlands the following weekend.
