    Roo back within three weeks

    02 Apr 2010 - 10:18:08

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson expects Wayne Rooney to be back in action within three weeks, after the striker suffered an ankle injury in the Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old England ace limped off late on in the Allianz Arena, sparking fears that he could miss the rest of the season and even be a doubt for the World Cup finals in the summer.

However, scans on the problem showed no major damage and Ferguson is confident that Rooney will return to the United fold well before the end of the season.

He told Sky Sports: "There is no bone damage or serious ligament damage. The nation can stop praying.

"It was panic and we are relieved. When we saw him hobble off, you are hoping when you send him for a scan, you get some good news.

"And it could have been worse given the way he hobbled off, but it's out of the way - we can put it to one side and get on with our job on the pitch."
