Ronaldo reveals Madrid pride
12 Jun 2009 - 07:27:21
Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his pride at his impending "historic" £80million transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid.
The Portuguese star is set to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms before completing his world record switch to Spain.
Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to play for Real and the 24-year-old winger is delighted that his dream is now set to become a reality.
"I have had my time at Man United. It's time to look forward and £80million is quite a sum of money. This deal is historic," he said.
"It's flattering when two of the top teams in the world want you to play for them.
"Now I can look forward to Real Madrid and a new stage in my career.
"I learned of the deal here (on holiday) in LA and heard from my people that United had accepted."
Meanwhile, Ronaldo does not expect a minor hernia problem to disrupt the smooth running of his transfer.
"I do not require surgery. The hernia is nothing to worry about," he added.
"However, I have also been told that Madrid want to have a medical team look at me as expected."
