Ronaldo in line for Villarreal
24 Nov 2008 - 12:05:29
Cristiano Ronaldo could be fit for Manchester United's Champions League trip to Villarreal on Tuesday after taking part in training on Monday morning.
Ronaldo, 23, was thought to be a major doubt for the meeting of the two sides locked together at the top of Group E after limping out of Saturday's goalless draw against Aston Villa with an ankle problem.
But after returning to training at United's Carrington headquarters on Monday, the Portugal winger is set to travel to Spain.
However, Gary Neville, Dimitar Berbatov and Danny Welbeck will take no part in the game after sitting out the session through injury.
Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Paul Scholes is close to making his comeback from the knee ligament injury he picked up in September.
"Scholesy is coming along fine," he revealed. "I think he'll be ready for the week of the Tottenham game (December 13).
"He's started to involve himself in first-team training - not all of it but some of it.
"Funnily enough he always makes good progress with injuries like this and it's the same this time.
"He's not far away, but still a few weeks yet."
