Ronaldo close to decision

02 June 2008 09:01
Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will make an announcement on his future in the next "two to three days". The Manchester United star continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid, and said after Portugal's 2-0 win over Georgia: "Let's see, I hope there will be news soon. In two to three days I will announce my decision." The 23-year-old's godfather claimed on Saturday that Ronaldo had already decided to head to Spain. However, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has warned that the United hierarchy will not sanction a deal and could make Ronaldo pay for seeking a move away from Old Trafford. Ferguson said: "I've had a couple of meetings with the Glazers. "Their attitude is 'to hell with them'. They'd sit a player in the stand. I'm telling you, absolutely no doubt about it, just to prove a point and not to give in to these people. "They've got balls, I can tell you. I've been delighted with them in that respect. They've been good to this club, believe me. They have been brilliant owners."
