    Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has been rewarded for a magnificent season by being named FifPro World Footballer of the Year.

    The 23-year-old Portugal international found the net 42 times for Sir Alex Ferguson's side last term as they secured both the Champions League and Premier League titles.

    Ronaldo is also expected to win the Balon D'Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year awards in the next few weeks.

    He has also been named in FifPro's team of the year alongside United team-mate Rio Ferdinand.

    Three other Premier League stars - Steven Gerrard, John Terry and Fernando Torres - were also included in the team.
