Ronaldo calls for caution

Published: 29 Apr 2009 - 23:16:54

Cristiano Ronaldo expects Manchester United to have to score at Arsenal to reach the UEFA Champions League final. The Red Devils kept the defence of their European crown on course with a narrow 1-0 win over the Gunners in the first leg of their semi-final showdown on Wednesday. A solitary strike from John O'Shea saw United take control of the tie, but they should have left Old Trafford with more to show for their efforts after dominating their Premier League rivals for long periods. Ronaldo accepted as much afterwards, but insists Sir Alex Ferguson's men will be heading to Emirates Stadium next week looking to snatch an away goal to kill off the game. "To win is always important so 1-0 is good," said the World Player of the Year. "We know we could have scored more goals tonight but we didn't. This is football. Now we will go there and try to score one or two goals. The Portuguese superstar added on Sky Sports News: "We dominated the whole game. Arsenal are a fantastic team, who keep the ball well, but they didn't create a chance tonight. "We have to believe that we can go there and play the same and score goals. "I'm sure we will have a few opportunities to score but we must respect Arsenal, they have a good coach and good players and we have to respect that."
