Ronaldo: Real dream is dead
03 May 2009 - 12:27:22
Manchester United's Portuguese ace Cristiano Ronaldo is reported to have stated that his dream of playing for Real Madrid is dead.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu for well over a year, having seemed certain to head to Spain at one point last summer.
However, Ronaldo says he is now fully focused on life at Old Trafford, as he has three years of his current five-year contract still to run.
He is quoted in The People as saying: "I'm no longer thinking of Madrid, that dream is dead.
"The only thing I dream about now is Manchester United and winning the Champions League again in Rome."
Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney says he would love to spend the rest of his career with the Red Devils, having spent nearly five years with United already.
He told The Sunday Telegraph: "I am happy here and I'd sign a new contract at any time.
"I want to stay at this club for the rest of my career. I will sign an extension any time the club wants me to."
