Ronaldo: I'm staying at United
22 May 2009 - 07:36:35
Cristiano Ronaldo insists he will stay at next Manchester United next season after turning his back on Real Madrid.
The Portugal winger is believed to have been targeted by presidential candidate Florentino Perez should he return to office at the Spanish club in their forthcoming elections.
But the 24-year-old world and European player of the year claims he 'doesn't care' what happens at Madrid.
Ronaldo was involved in a transfer tug-of-war between United and Real last summer after revealing he wanted to play in Spain.
"At the moment I'm only thinking about the (Champions League) final independently of what will happen to me or my team-mates next season," he said.
"I'm sure Perez would create an incredible team at Madrid but at the moment I'm at United and I don't care about what happens there.
"I only care about what will happen next season at Manchester United."
Meanwhile, Ronaldo in anticipating a "dream" Champions League Final encounter with Barcelona in Rome next week.
He added: "The two teams are very good, they play very well and they have dream squads."
"It's clear that we are the two best teams in Europe. Not only because we are in the final but also because of the football we have played this season and for the trophies we have won.
"It will be the match every fan dreamed about."
