    Ron turns up Blues heat

    23 Nov 2006 - 13:57:15

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has thrown down the gauntlet to title rivals Chelsea, insisting that the Blues are no better than they were last season.

The two clubs go head-to-head at Old Trafford on Sunday, with United holding a three-point lead at the top of the Premiership.

However, Ronaldo has backed United to succeed this season and has dismissed Chelsea's addition of world stars Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack in the summer.

He told Zoo magazine: "I think we're capable of winning everything - the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

"This weekend's game with Chelsea is very vital. We're neck-and-neck with them and this is a good sign, because we can't allow them to go too far ahead like last year.

"We're in a better position to win the league.

"I think Chelsea are about the same as they were last year. The transfers of Shevchenko and Ballack haven't changed them too much in terms of their superiority to everybody else.

"They have to work harder to win games. They just do enough to win."
