Ron accepts Fergie criticism

Cristiano Ronaldo says he has accepted criticism levelled at him by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ronaldo's 40-yard wonder strike booked United's place in the semi-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday night following a 1-0 win over FC Porto.

The stunning goal came after Ferguson had warned his frustrated winger to concentrate on playing football following an inconsistent season.

Ferguson took the rare opportunity to publicly remind his talismanic world and European player of the year of the need to concentrate on his game and told Ronaldo that he can't expect every decision to go his way.

Speaking after his moment of magic, Ronaldo admitted that he has listened to his manager's advice.

"It is not a problem," he said. "I always respect the manager and coaches because I want to learn. If he says that, it is because he thinks it is true.

"But I think I have been playing well and I have scored a few important goals."
