Robson agrees Thailand role

Published: 23 Sep 2009 - 11:25:33

Former England captain Bryan Robson has agreed to become the new coach of Thailand. Robson replaces former England team-mate Peter Reid in the role after he quit Thailand to take up the assistant manager's job at Stoke. Former West Brom and Sheffield United boss Robson is set to sign a four-year deal with Thailand and he will be given the task of leading the country to the 2014 World Cup finals. "He's agreed to become coach, he's very happy with what we've offered him," said Thai FA chief Worawi Makudi. "It's a four-year deal. The plan is he'll coach Thailand for the Asian Cup, the Olympics and hopefully the World Cup too." The move is Robson's first foray into international management and his first job since quitting Sheffield United in February last year.
