Rio Appeal Dropped

New England captain Rio Ferdinand will not be appealing against the one match ban handed out by the FA after the game with Manchester City. United appealed against a violent conduct charge so that Ferdinand could play in the Carling Cup semi final at Old Trafford. Then a one-match ban was handed down after what the FA termed a "frivolous" appeal.
